Fukuoka, JAPAN - March 3, 2021- Institute for Q-shu Pioneers of Space, Inc. (iQPS) released its first light images from QPS-SAR 2nd satellite "Izanami" which was launched on January 24th (US EST) by SpaceX Falcon 9 Transporter-1 Mission. After a month-long calibration of Izanami, Izanami demonstrated its capability to achieve ground plane resolution of azimuth direction 1.8m and range direction 0.7m (70cm) at its stripmap mode first light image, which will be the first and the finest resolution as a Japanese small (around 100kg) SAR satellite.
iQPS will continue to improve the image quality while adjusting the satellite's attitude control, and will start observations in the spotlight mode (high-resolution mode) which will achieve a resolution of less than 1m. In addition, iQPS will keep the development of the data provision platform for the full-scale launch of its data service business.
